Nancy Kaufman's first session SPEAK kids were thrilled to get their new "My House" books from the KCC's music therapist, Lisa Barnett.

This songbook and accompanying CD were designed by Lisa along with graphic designer John Boissy. The book is assembled in a binder and contains room for photographs that tell a unique personal story about each child.

The song lyrics allow each child to "fill in the blank" with specific words that are meaningful in their life. The child can help select words and photos to include in the book that help them to communicate with others about the special people, things and activities that are important in his or her life. Each book contains a menu board of laminated words that fill in the blanks. As the child sings along with the lyrics he or she can then engage in fastening the laminated words on to various pages in the book.

The CD was recorded with ample response time for the child to sing and/or say the appropriate word that describes each photograph assembled in the book. There is also a special laminated board for creating the child's name and address.
