Teaching Assistants for Applied
Verbal Behavior Program
We are seeking a full-time teaching
assistant to work one on one with children experiencing an autistic spectrum
disorder or other language and learning challenges using the principles and teaching
procedures of applied behavior analysis/verbal behavior. College degree
required. Experience in working with
children with autism and/or in using the principles of applied behavior
analysis is highly preferred. Individuals should be highly motivated and
self-starters with a desire to learn. Training is provided and is ongoing.

The Kaufman Children’s Center For Speech, Language, Sensory-Motor, and Social Connections, Inc. provides specialized speech and language therapy, and occupational therapy and sensory integration services. The KCC is the leader in providing individualized, quality therapy, is well-known for children with apraxia of speech, and is fast becoming specialists in the areas of sensory processing, auditory/linguistic processing, and Autistic Spectrum Disorders
in the preschool and early elementary aged child. We are now able
to offer programs for middle and high school children as well.
Realizing that “one therapy approach doesn’t fit all,” the KCC staff are trained in state of the art speech and occupational therapy services, and create an individualized approach for each child.
Located
in West Bloomfield, Michigan, a northwest suburb of Detroit, the KCC
was awarded the prestigious 2001 Clinical Service Award from the
Michigan Speech Language Hearing Association, an honor that recognizes
one exceptional program in the state of Michigan. Our center
offers a warm, playful, family-friendly environment and our
speech/language suite is complete with private observation rooms that
permit parents to watch each session, as they follow along with their
child’s progress.

Parent Training: Our philosophy is that
parents and extended family are an important part of the therapy
process. It is our goal to specifically train parents and family
members so that they can be empowered to affect positive change toward
their child’s communicative and sensory progress.
