DVD Consultations

Many families who reside a great distance from our center choose to send in DVDs of their children for Nancy Kaufman to review.

$80 Comprehensive Screening Nancy will watch a short video of your child and provide treatment goals, methods, and specific suggestions. This service is also an appropriate way to determine whether or not a child would be a good candidate for our program. Nancy will contact you by phone or email to provide her feedback - no formal written documentation will be provided. Along with payment, please enclose general information (age, pertinent background, current therapy, etc.) about your child.

Please Note:

  • DVDs will not be returned unless a suitable envelope and postage are included with the original tape.
  • DVD format only.
  • If you would like your DVD returned, please include a self-addressed envelope with postage.

Tips When Taping:

Ideally, Nancy would like to see a therapy session/techniques so that she can work together with your child's current speech pathologist on strategies.

Please have the child’s SLP show actual treatment techniques and not just a speech and/or language sample. This would be helpful for Nancy to be able to make some useful suggestions. It is best if the SLP is interested in working collaboratively with Nancy and is familiar with the K-SLP methods and materials rather than this consultation being imposed on the SLP who may not be interested or invested in the K-SLP techniques. This should be a positive and desired collaboration with the purpose of working together on behalf of the children!
  1. Aim the camera at the child's face.
  2. If available, administer parts of the Kaufman Speech Praxis Test (KSPT)
  3. Have the child imitate a series of isolated vowels, consonant-vowel combinations, words, and phrases.
  4. Have the child name common objects. Please say the name of each object after the child does, so that there is a reference for the true word.
  5. Try to provide some type of spontaneous speech.

Please feel free to call us at (248) 737-3430 if you have any questions regarding this service.
