"Sign to Talk" Now an iPad App! |
|

Nancy Kaufman’s excellent “Sign to Talk” collaboration with Tamara Kasper is now available as an iPad app! Ideal for children who are not yet vocal imitators, the app provides a bridge from signing to vocal communication. It includes 190 everyday objects and actions that children frequently request. Each target item is represented by a photo, a video of the ASL sign, and a series of potential word approximations that can be used to guide a child toward improved articulation.
The two main sections of the app are:
The Signing Zone
- A visual dictionary containing all 190 target words divided into 12 categories.
- Students can select an individual photo and view a video demonstration of the ASL sign to assist in learning the sign.
The Therapy Zone
- Instructors can create and manage individual student accounts.
- Build customized words lists for each student.
- Document and store student performance within the “Testing Zone.”
- Collect data and view scoring reports.
- Email scoring reports and data graphs.
