Coordination Disorder

Early Signs and Symptoms

  • Marked delays in achieving motor milestones (sitting up, crawling, and walking)

  • Poor performance in sports

  • Problems with handwriting

  • Problems with gross motor coordination (jumping, hopping, standing on one foot)

  • Problems with fine motor coordination (tying shoelaces, tapping one finger to another, holding objects)

  • “Clumsiness” ( may trip over their own feet, run into other children, have an unsteady gait, drop things)
