Thank you a hundred times over for your help. Just knowing all of the little signs to look for regarding our son’s sensory needs and how to handle them was such a gift. Your staff was so kind in what can be a difficult time for any family. It's always nice to see a friendly face when you’re scared.

Occupational Therapy at KCC

Occupational therapy is skilled treatment that focuses on a child’s ability to achieve independence and participate in daily life activities, including play, self-care, school/community involvement, and socializing. These “skills for the job of living” are necessary to ensure satisfying, fulfilling, and independent lives.

HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Top occupational therapists who help kids gain independence and full engagement in all of their activities.
  • Treatment focusing on sensory-motor skills, physical/cognitive abilities, social interaction, oral-motor weakness, picky eating, and other food-related challenges.
  • Programs including Handwriting Without Tears, Astronaut Training, Bal-A-Vis-X, Zones of Regulation, Therapeutic Listening, and craniosacral therapy.
  • State-of-the-art sensory gym that is both therapeutic and tons of fun for kids, including swings, slides, ball pits, rock walls, and a huge activity castle. Scroll down for pics!

Welcome to Our Sensory Gym!

Children receiving occupational therapy at the KCC are greeted by a bright, exciting space including swings, ball pit, rock walls, large castle structure with a slide, treehouse, and much more. An overhead quad track system ensures safety by providing the equivalent of four separate clinics, with the open space still allowing for social interaction. Therapists are able to hook a variety of swings and other equipment onto the track, providing lots of different gross motor activities. Kids also benefit from time spent working on quiet, calming activities in nooks in the castle structure and in a cozy treehouse. Rooms off of the main gym also include areas for feeding, fine motor, and messy activities.

Therapy with our OT has dramatically changed my son’s behavior, as he is finally willing to accept help and learn how to help himself. I learned new techniques that I can relay to his teacher so we're all on the same page. This has been a wonderful place for us, and I can only see it getting better.
